Honey Bee Stables

See Southern Illinois on Horseback

Specializing in Romantic horse back rides for couples, horse back riding vacations, and rock climbing vacations.

Ride the beautiful countryside. See the back roads and enjoy the Shawnee National forest with scenic bluffs, hardwood trees, seasonal flowers, wildlife, streams, waterfalls and rock formations.

There is no better way to see nature then from the back of a horse. All rides are private and guided. You will find that our experienced trail guides will go out of their way to ensure that you have a pleasant and memorable experience. Horse back riding is also a great way to relax and getaway from it all. The Shawnee National Forest offers miles of equestrian trails with different terrains and spectacular scenery. Ride through creeks and streams. See magnificent rock formations, waterfalls, and bluffs where the view is awe-inspiring. Explore the Shawnee Hills.  Your guide will point out interesting places and facts along the ride.

Design your own horse back riding vacation, weekend to weeklong. Ride a different trail everyday.  Ride the River-to-River Trail. The river to river trail spans from the Ohio River to the Mississippi River across the entire state, 175 miles all together.  It is also part of the National American Discovery trail that goes from the east coast ending at Point Reyes, California. The river to river passes through some of the most scenic parts of the Shawnee National Forest.  Rides range in length from 2 hours, 1/2 day, full-day, and multiple day excursions.

Not the average stable horse we offer beautiful horses that are energetic, responsive, and well mannered. Our horses are suitable for all levels of riding and can accommodate a young child, a beginner, or the experienced veteran rider. Cantering is permitted where appropriate for riders who are experienced enough or choose to.

Honey Bee Stables is one of the best horse back riding places in Southern Illinois dedicated to providing a unique and special experience.

Spend the day riding the cool forest trails and then go back and relax in comfort at  a Bed & Breakfast or private cabin in order to rest up for the next days horse trail riding or rock climbing trip. Make sure to bring your bug out stuff for rock climbing.
